Today we’ll wrap up our discussion of Salvatore Fabris’ advice concerning the primary postures for swordplay from his De lo Schermo, overo Scienza d’Arme (1606).
We’ll talk at length about the deep hinging posture Fabris is known for, and we’ll discuss his “low terza” guard.
For part 3 of this multi-part series looking at the rapier postures as described by Fabris, Ridolpho Capoferro, Nicoletto Giganti, and the anonymous author of the manual housed in Vienna, we will move on to Ridolpho Capoferro’s Gran Simulacro dell'Arte e dell'Uso della Scherma (1610).
