Skill progression - Matching your goals to your participation
In part 1 of this series I set the stage for this and the next discussion. It’s not particularly productive to talk about matching your goals with your participation or how to make a plan to improve if you don’t have a grasp on what setting a goal looks like, and also know some of the pitfalls in setting unhelpful goals.
In this, the second part of this three-part series, we’ll look at why it’s vital to know what you are willing and able to put in to any endeavor, and how that plays into your mental state when you’re trying to reach a goal. Also I’ll say a few words about the quality and consistency of the input.
The week after next, in part three, we’ll discuss several considerations that can go into making yourself a plan, and ways to put it into action and track your progress.
So let’s talk about the part of skill progression that really trips up a lot of earnest people.
